Obour Lauds Dr Kofi Abban For Uniting Stonebwoy And Shatta Wale

President of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), Obour has received a lot of backlash for his nonchalance regarding the indefinite ban of Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale from the Ghana Music Awards.


Several key people in the media space have called him out for his bad leadership and failure to protect members of his union. Some of these celebrities include; Abeiku Santana, Nana Aba Anamoah etc.


Obour has refused to respond to critics of his leadership.
However, in a series of posts on Instagram, the ridiculed president of the union congratulated Nana Aba Anamoah and Dr Kofi Amoa Abban for the role they played in bringing Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy together.
In the post, Obour showered praises on the duo who made the Shatta-Stonebwoy rivalry a thing of the past.


He posted a picture of Dr. Amoa and captioned it;


“Piaaaaawwwww. Doc .. you do all. “ The greatest leader is not necessarily the one who does the greatest things but the one who also finds time to do the needful for others”. Dr Kofi Amoa Abban, my respect for you as a brother have gone another ladder higher. Our music industry will forever be grateful for this historic smoking of Peace @stonebwoyb and @shattawalenima I doff my hat for you Sir and @thenanaaba Thank you for doing this for us all. I'm Not Bothered With Amakye Dede Crowning Kuami Eugene - KiDi

Singer Kidi has opened up on veteran highlife musician Amakye Dede crowning Kuami Eugene as ‘Future of Highlife’ in Ghana’s music industry at the recently held 2019 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).


Some industry players registered their displeasure about the move, saying there were other highlife artistes who equally deserved the honour.


Some suggested that Bisa Kdei or K.K. Fosu, among other renowned acts who tow the highlife genre were supposed to be honoured rather than Kuami Eugene, who emerged just two years ago.


In subsequent reports, the manager of Amakye Dede, Mr Akwesi Aboagye came out to reveal that his artiste was forced to crown Kuami Eugene.


Speaking on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, Kidi said he cannot fathom why people are raising concerns because indirectly or directly he deserved it.
He buttressed his assertion with the fact that Kuami Eugene has won ‘Highlife Artiste of the Year’ back-to-back at the VGMA.


“I was right about to go on stage when that happened and I heard Amakye Dede crown him. We laughed about it when he returned backstage. We know he’s amazing and has won two years in a row. The sky is enough for all stars to shine so I have no idea why people are complaining,” he said.


Asked if it got to him as he is equally a singer who emerged on the music scene with Kuami Eugene, Kidi simply said, “I don’t let these things get to me. I am all about positive energy.”

R. Kelly Charged With 11 New Counts Of $ex Assault And Abuse

Embattled R&B singer R. Kelly has been charged with 11 new counts of sexual assault and sexual abuse, Cook County court records show.

Scarce details were made public Thursday, but four of the new counts charge Kelly with aggravated criminal $exual assault — a Class X felony that carries six to 30 years in prison on conviction, The Chicago Tribune reports.

Three of the new counts accuse him of $exually abusing a victim between the ages of 13 and 16.

It was unclear if this is a new victim or one of the four victims — three of them underage at the time — whom Kelly was charged in February with $exually abusing.



Kelly was charged at that time with 10 counts of aggravated criminal $exual abuse involving those four victims.

Kelly is due back in court next week to face the new charges.

“We’ll see what it is, and we’ll deal with it accordingly,” Kelly’s attorney, Steven Greenberg, said Thursday when reached for comment

A newly-wedded first Class graduate, Amarachi Sandra Olua and a Lecturer with the Federal University, Lafia, Nasarawa State has reportedly lost her life just three days after her traditional wedding.



It was gathered that the fatal crash on the Hawan – Kibo – Jos road involving a truck with registration number BSA214XA, and a Toyota Hiace bus marked BSA453XJ also claimed seven lives.

The sad accident occurred on Tuesday evening.

Six other persons were also left severely injured. It was gathered that the truck belonged to Dangote Company, while the bus was from God’s Time is the Best Transport company in Jos.

Sandra, who is a graduate of the Federal University, Lafia, had her traditional wedding on Sunday, May 26th in her hometown. She was travelling back when the tragic incident happened. She concluded her mandatory National Youth Service programme in March 2019.

Rapper and singer Kofi Mole has denied that he is into fraud or sakawa but has also revealed that he doesn't see anything wrong the act.


According to the "Don't Be Late" singer in an interview with Amansan Krakye on Radio Central, he revealed that he is not into fraud but most of his friends are into it and he is not against it.


The young rapper has been tagged as "sakawa boy" but he explained that Ghanaians hate to see someone looking good that's why they always question people's source of wealth.


"I don't know how Ghanaian think. When Ghanaians see you are looking good they begin to ask questions but someone will give his money to his girlfriend and someone will use his to buy clothes to wear in order to look good. Ghanaians hate to see when someone looks good and due to that people are afraid to spend their own money because when you do they will start tagging you with certain names", he lamented.


He also blamed the system for being the cause of this fraudulent act. Because there are jobs, the youth are using dubious ways to make money.


"People come to me and say they have heard that I do sakawa. Most of my friends are into it and I don't blame them for doing that. Man has to survive, people are hungry and nothing is going on. Maybe the person has completed school and there is no work. Some are selling and they are not buying so that's what they use to survive. My friends that are doing it have cars and they give me some to drive. So when you see me driving car it doesn't mean it's mine", he revealed.


Kofi Mole therefore rubbished sakawa rumours and asked fans to support his music rather.


"So that sakawa rumours is not true but most of my friends are into that and I don't have any problem with them because they are trying to survive. I'm not a sakawa, I'm just that normal boy who was doing buying and selling those days. The fans should concentrate on the music we are giving them and forget those rumours", he added.

“I started to experiment with writing. And I would listen to raps and I think at first I just started writing down all the lyrics of the song. Then, my next step was, turn those lyrics into my lyrics. Then that graduated into “OK, let me try to flip that whole thing into me writing it, in the pattern of this song that I know.” Once I got that then I would start reciting it…but it was still a hobby of mine.”

Getting recognition
This was word of mouth era. I guess it was just people liking it, and it was organic that way, too. It’s a self-made moment, it’s a moment from the mud. I Am Open To Any Record Label That Wants To Sign Me-Deon Boakye

Ghanaian Afro-Pop musician, Deon Boakye, has stated that he is available for any record label that is financially sound and serious about signing artists.



Speaking on e.TV Ghana’s ‘The Late Nite Celebrity Show’ on if he is under any management, Deon said; “Not really, I do everything myself. I am funding my video, production, and promotion so if someone comes and sees the vision and wants to help me, why not,” he said.

“If High grade comes good if any other records label comes and I feel they are good and they put me there why not,” he added. He, however, said that, if he is supposed to be on the High-Grade label, he will but his boss will have a lot to do. “If I sign under Highgrade, it will happen but he has a lot of things to do like he is working on his album, touring and a whole lot so I understand”.

Award-winning radio and TV presenter Abeiku Santana has fired MUSIGA president Obour and called him a bad leader for supporting Charterhouse to ban Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy.


When VGMA board members announced that Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale have banned from the VGMAs, many industry players including spoke against it and pleaded with the board to reconsider the punishment.



Surprisingly Obour who is the leader of the musicians saw nothing wrong with it and said the industry can do without these two artistes.


Reacting to this biased statement, Abeiku Santana has expressed his disappointment in Obour and called him a bad leader.


"You are a bad leader. You are not a street boy, that's why your belly is fat like that", he angrily said.

Junior US' Body Arrives In Ghana For Burial (Video)

Corpse of America-based Ghanaian artiste Junior US who was murdered in his house in America has been flown to Ghana for burial.


There will be no wake keeping but all rites will take place on Saturday June 1, 2019 at Krofrom and he will be buried at Antoa Abira in Kumasi.

Video: Manifest Shows Shatta Wale How To Congratulate By Using Sarkodie As An Example

In all the brouhaha that marred this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, one thing that stuck with people is the word “congratulations”.


On Thursday morning, rapper M.anifest also decided to “congratulate” his supposed “arch rival” Sarkodie in the Hitz FM studio.


The atmosphere was full of laughter and humour as M.anifest got host of Daybreak Hitz, Andy Dosty, his producer and panellists thinking about the infamous Shatta-Stonebwoy incident that climaxed the VGMA.


The rapper walked into the studio uninvited where Sarkodie was sitting granting an interview.


His statement “I only came to congratulate him,” brought out laughter and cheers from people in the studio as the VGMA fracas came to mind.


M.anifest had just finished his interview on Joy FM and decided to step into the Hitz FM studio to see Sarkodie.


Considering their history, a meeting of the two will definitely get heads turning especially when people have been on M.anifest’s case for dissing Sarkodie in his latest track ‘Rapper 101’.


However, the rapper in his interview denied such accusations saying there was no bad blood between them.


Sarkodie also in his interview revealed he and M.anifest are cool.


This meeting will dispel any dissing rumours more clearly than any statement from the two would.


For those who may not know the significance of such a meeting, M.anifest and Sarkodie were also embroiled in one of the biggest rap beefs the country has ever witnessed.


In 2016, M.anifest, in his ‘godMC’ track, took digs at Sarkodie after he released his “Bossy” song. Sarkodie also quickly replied to M.anifest in his “Kanta” track.


Their beef songs trended on social media for several weeks and generated a lot of public debate.
Since then, the two have rarely been seen together.


In December 2018, fans had the opportunity to see the two meet in front of The Multimedia Group’s building.


As faith would have it, M.anifest had just finished an interview on Hitz FM while Sarkodie was also waiting for an interview on Joy FM.


As M.anifest exited the building, Sarkodie stepped out of his black Range Rover to exchange pleasantries with his “arch-rival.”


It is unclear what transpired during their conversation as they shook hands and embraced each other.

Shatta Wale And Stonebwoy Haven't Returned The Plaques Yet - George Quaye

George Quaye, PRO for Charter House Ghana, says VGMA sanctioned artistes, Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy haven’t returned the plaques won on the #VGMA20 night.


“I am not sure the Board is in the position to chase them to bring the plaques. But as courtesy demands, it is required of them to return it. We pray they do the needful,” George Quaye claims.

“I have not had any directive from the VGMA Board (Chairman) to go after them to bring the plaques. But it is on record that they have been stripped of the awards they won on the night,” George Quaye added.


George Quaye was speaking on Peace 104.3fm on Thursday, May 30 via a phone interview.


Charter House Ghana, organizers of the Vodafone GHANA Music Awards and The Board in a press conference last week requested Ghanaian artistes, Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy, to return their 2 plaques won each on the night of May 18, 2019 following a brawl between both artistes that disrupted the event for over 20 minutes.


Charter House and VGMA Board have come under heavy critique from various Musicians, Pundits and general public for giving ‘harsh’ punishment to Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy. Many were also of the view that the plaques won by both artistes on the night be given to them. Some have also blamed the organizing company for security lapses on the night of the skirmishes.

Amakye Dede Was Forced To Crown Kuami Eugene - Manager Reveals

The manager of Ghanaian Highlife legend, Amakye Dede has called on Ghanaians to stop blaming Amakye Dede for crowning Kuami Eugene as the next Highlife King of Ghana at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards 2019 held on 18th May.


According to Akwasi Aboagye, Amakye Dede was forced to crown Kuami Eugene on the stage. He explained that Kiki Benson, who was in charge of artiste repertoire at the VGMA 2019 called earlier to inform Amakye Dede they will like him to crown Kuami Eugene on stage.
But Amakye Dede informed him he can not do that so it came as surprised when the crown was forced on him on the stage to do it.


Speaking on Accra based Onua FM, Akwasi Aboagye said:


“Kiki Banson, who was in charge of artiste repertoire for this year’s VGMAs, called to inform him that as part of Amakye Dede’s performance, they want him to crown Kuami Eugene and I told him I have to speak to my artiste about it.


“Amakye Dede was not in support of it when [I] informed him, so I was surprised to see him act against his will,” Aboagye stated in an interview on Accra-based Onua FM.


“So those who watched that act will know that something was not right. According to Amakye Dede, he was surprised to see a lady walk on stage to hand over a crown to him,” he added.

Minister of Defence, Dominic Nitiwul has unveiled the statue of Major Maxwell Mahama, the soldier who was killed by residents of Diaso in the Upper Denkyira District of the Central Region.

The ceremony was to mark two years since the soldier was murdered at Denkyira Obuasi.

Major Mahama, who was the commander of the Military detachment stationed at Diaso met his untimely death on the 29th of May 2017 after he was lynched by the residents who claimed they thought he was an armed robber.

The construction of a 20-foot monument in honour of the late solder at the Airport Hills Roundabout had been met with stiff opposition from a group of residents of La who say they see no reason why the monument should be on their land when the deceased officer was killed.

Unveiling the statue, Mr. Nitiwul called on Ghanaians to learn from the murder and eschew the practice of instant justice.

He said Major Mahama should be the last victim of mob justice.

Besides the statue, a trust fund has been set up by the government to cater to Major Mahama’s wife and children.

President Nana Akufo-Addo also made a personal donation of GH¢ 50,000 towards the fund.

The monument is in line with a request from the family of the late military officer.

Major Mahama’s family made the request known during a courtesy call on the president in 2017, where they expressed the hope that the monument would serve as a reminder of the tragedy and a deterrent to the canker of mob justice in Ghana.

Official Police account indicates that he went jogging along the Diaso-Dominase-Ayanfu stretch when a mob attacked him upon suspicion that he was an armed robber.

Veteran music producer Zapp Mallet has revealed Patapaa does not do music but only talks.


In a recent interview with Kobby Kyei, he unequivocally stated that the Skopatumana crooner was not a musician.

Zylofon Music Finally Part Ways With Stonebwoy

Stonebwoy’s two-year contract with Zylofon Music record label has ended, citinewsroom.com can confirm.

The contract technically ended on May 18, 2019.

This means that the dancehall artiste is no longer under the auspices of the record company.

His Burniton Music Group is in full control of activities regarding his brand, craft and entire music business.

Stonebwoy was signed on to Zylofon Music record label on Thursday, June 15, 2017, at the Zylofon Music head office at East Legon.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Zylofon Media, Nana Appiah Mensah explained, at the time, that the company decided to sign Stonebwoy because he had a great music talent that could be placed anywhere on the world music market.

“Stonebwoy is not just an artiste, he understands music and is not just an everyday artiste that is good at getting in front of the mic and singing,” he said.

Although details of the contract were not disclosed to the media, reports had it that Stonebwoy was initially signed for three years.

However, later, the contract was reviewed to two years at the behest of Stonebwoy (born Livingstone Etse Satekla).

The contract entailed music production, marketing and promotion for the artiste.

In March 2018, there was an altercation between Stonebwoy’s team and some management executives of Zylofon Music.

According to Stonebwoy, he was uncomfortable with the posture of some elements at the record label who had shown dislike for his person and craft.

However, he has shown unflinching support and love for the embattled CEO of the record label, Nana Appiah Mensah, whose gold dealership company, Menzgold has suffered a closure by Security and Exchanges Commission (SEC).

If government is ready today, I will be in Ghana today. My assets exceed my liabilities. Thomas Partey Is The Right Person To Captain Black Stars - Charlorson Tells Kwesi Appiah

Ghanaian hip life singer Charlorson has advised that 25 years old midfielder Thomas Teye Partey should be the captain of the Black Stars else they can't win the AFCON.

Regina Daniels and Ned Nwoko recently completed the traditional introduction rites at Aboh-Ogwashi, Ogwashi-Uku in Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State, where the mother of the talented actress hails from.

It was discovered that the introduction rites was held in the mother’s family compound instead of the father’s ancestral home at Azungwu Quarters in the same town, Ogwashi-Uku, neither was he consulted or invited to the daughter’s pre-nuptial rites.

He is also said to be no way involved in the forthcoming wedding to be held at a date which is yet to be fixed, rather her mother, Rita Daniels and her people are said to be fully in charge.

This situation is said to be due to the fact that Ojeogwu, Regina Daniels biological father, did not pay the traditional bride price on her mother’s head as required by custom and so cannot receive same on behalf of the daughter as he is not traditionally recognized as her father.

It was leant that Ojeogwu and Daniel’s mother, Rita, lived for many years in both Ogwashi-Uku and Lagos and had other children besides Regina Daniels before going their separate ways.

The upkeep of the children was then said to have been left to their mother before Regina Daniels started making waves in Nollywood. Consequently, the children became estranged from their father.
