Hypocrites! You Can Crown Another High Life King - Richie Mensah Fumes

CEO of Lynx Entertainment Richie Mensah has fired Ghanaians who feel bitter about Amakye Dede crowning Kuami Eugene as king of high life at the 20th edition of VGMA.

In an interview on Happy FM’s ‘Ayekoo After Drive’ with DJ Advicer, he revealed that it's not the first time Amakye Dede is endorsing the young high life singer.

“Amakye Dede had a concert in the UK and he invited Kuami Eugene to perform. He met Kuami at the airport and he told Eugene how he loves the highlife he is doing. When Kuami Eugene finished performing on stage, Amakye Dede called him back and said to everyone that he doesn’t mind handing over the Highlife title to this boy because he thinks he is taking the Highlife to the next level”, he revealed.

“Then he does the same thing at the VGMA then Ghanaian cannot understand why. How!!!,” he asked.

“I think someone should ask Amakye Dede or his manager because Amakye Dede did it on his own in the UK and did it again in Ghana. If he is saying Kiki Benson force him, did Kiki force him in UK as well?”.

“We have to stop these kind of things because it is appalling to see a legend Amakaye Dede applauding a young brother and Ghanaians getting bitter about it. What is the problem,” he fumed.

“If someone thinks another artiste should be crowned high life artiste, then they should crown him or her. I don’t understand why Ghanaians are bitter”, he lamented.

The aggrieved father spoke to Agyenkwa Fm in Kumasi and revealed that the commotion between Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy was caused by Ebony’s angry spirit and that was because the organizers failed to recognize her after being the first female artiste to win the prestigious Artiste of the year award.

Starbwoy Kwarteng revealed that as far as he was aware, every year during the VGMAs, the winner for the Artiste of the year category for the previous year, is recognized in some way so he was expecting that he would be contacted to play a role in the awards ceremony.

He stated that he reached out to the organizers of the event but nothing was communicated to him and it really hurt him that he and his daughter were sidelined totally during the awards ceremony.

When asked if he would forgive CharterHouse should they apologize, he answered yes.

When asked what he would do if they refuse to apologize, he said that he would not say much but time will tell.

Musicians Who Cannot Perform Live Are Fraudsters - Samini Reveals

Reggae and Dancehall artiste, Samini has tagged musicians who cannot perform live as fraudsters.

Speaking on Showbiz A-Z on Joy FM, Saturday, the artiste said the stage is the chance for an artiste to connect and present his craft to the audience in a special way.

“So, if performing and you have your recorded voice playing and your microphone acting like you are performing, it’s either you are a fraud or doing karaoke,” Samini told MzGee host of the show.

He explained that songs put out by artistes are already known to audiences hence time should be taken to give refreshing and different side of it during performance.

Samini stated he tries to give audiences a better version of his songs and supersede his former performances while entertaining his fans on stage.

“You are not a complete musician if you cannot perform your music live,” he stated.

He said the audience should demand their money paid back to them if an artiste does not perform live.

Samini urged other artistes who cannot do a live performance to learn.

Kwesi Arthur Reveals Why He Always Removes His Shirt On Stage

Award-winning Ghanaian hip-hop artiste Kwesi Arthur has a signature appearance of always performing bare-chested on stage.

Though this is not unusual for hip-hop and some hip-life artistes, the artiste argues that it is one of his iconic styles, and that it distinguishes him and energizes his performance as well.

Kwesi Arthur disclosed this in an interview on 3FM’s Sunrise morning show, where he explained the idea behind going shirtless whenever he performs.

“It is the vibe; like the energy around it is just crazy. So whenever I am performing, I just take off my shirt, and the reaction is crazy.”

Asked why a lot of the youth in ghettos identify with his music, the ‘Grind day’ crooner said young people are able to identify with the kind of content he churns out through his music.

“I feel like music is our escape, like in this country so many things are going on. Music is the only thing that keeps the youth entertained.

“Because if you think about what is going on, you will be angry and do something you might regret. So the music keeps us entertained,” he noted.

Kwesi Arthur is out with his latest album titled ‘Live From Nkrumah Krom-Home Run’, and it is on iTunes, Spotify and other music platforms.

It features the likes of Stonebwoy, Sarkodie, Shatta Wale, Nasty C and other artistes.

Shatta Wale Deserves Artiste Of The Decade - Socrates Sarfo

With the annual Vodafone Ghana Music Awards some few days away, people have started predicting the winners for each category as well as the artiste themselves

Movie producer Socrates Sarfo has disclosed that Shatta Movement boss Shatta Wale no doubt deserves to be awarded as the “Artiste of the Decade” come Saturday 18th May, 2019.

Speaking to Peace FM’s entertainment review host,Kwesi Aboagye, the Director of Creative Arts, responsible for Programmes & Projects at the Commission for National Culture stated that the highly animated and energetic dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale is his pick for the category of artiste of the decade – per the definition of the category – and not Sarkodie as many people think.

“I think that influential artist like Shatta Wale has been previously robbed of one key category which is the artist of the year. Per the definition of artiste of the year… if you look at the definition and relevance of the artists, Shatta stands poles apart from all the nominees there.”

Shatta Wale joins Sarkodie, Samini, Becca, Joe Mettle, and others to battle out for the “Artiste of the Decade”.

Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, Sarkodie Didn't Get Their Wealth Through Music - EL Reveals

Rapper and singer EL has revealed that no Ghanaian artiste is making money from music.

According to the "Koko" singer in an interview with Showbiz, he disclosed that albums don't sell and the money from shows too are peanuts so artistes make money from different deals.

“Music is just a means to an end. You cannot leave a legacy through music. It is actually the businesses you use your music for. How much can you sell an album or a song in Ghana? Any artiste who says he made a fortune only through music is a liar,” he said.

Surprisingly he also revealed that not even Sarkodie, Stonebwoy or Shatta Wale are getting money from shows.

“Forget about the shows because I have mounted every show in Ghana and they don’t pay that much. The money we get from shows are peanuts; it only lasts for a month or two”, he divulged.

“No artiste in Ghana can tell me he built a house or made a big fortune with an album or a particular song. I challenge any musician to come and contest me. It is how you direct your music into other businesses,” he added.
