The CEO of 3Music Awards, Sadiq Abdulai Abu has revealed that his outfit spent a whopping ₵800,00 (8Billion old cedis) to host the third edition of the annual awards show which was fraught with controversies after Shatta Wale emerged the overall winner with 11-awards.
He revealed that even though the amount sounds unbelievable, the processes leading up to the awards makes it an undeniable truth. Sadiq told Zionfelix that before the awards came off, they had to put together a research team who worked for over two months with the aim of gathering the needed data to do the categorization for the various awards.
The entertainment critic added that the board who deliberates on most of the issues are top people in the industry who ordinarily cannot be paid but they usually show them some gratitude by offering something small for their fuel prices anytime they came for board meetings.
Sadiq also stated that awards plaques which they bring in from China also cost at least $220 dollars per one and always they order for not less than forty copies.
The maiden edition of the show even faced some financial challenge after it emerged that Joselyn Dumas was not paid for hosting the show, coupled with other financial hiccup that nearly derailed the plan to host subsequent ones.
The second edition of the 3Music Awards went down on March 30 at the Fantasy Dome in Accra.

Stonebwoy Blasts 3Music Awards For Awarding Mediocrity
Dancehall singer Stonebwoy has expressed disappointment in organizers of 3Music Awards.
The “Shuga” hit maker won three awards, but says he was very disappointed not to have won more.
Stonebwoy’s rival Shatta Wale emerged the biggest winner on the night after grabbing seven (7) awards.
Speaking for the first time on the outcome of the awards, Stonebwoy said he was disappointed, while urging organisers of the 3Music Awards and other awards to eschew mediocrity.
“I was disappointed definitely but I kept to myself I was not going to say anything,” he said on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z, hosted by George Quaye.
“People’s awards are sitting in people’s homes…In Ghana sometimes mediocrity puts people who have to reward and award things in a box where they just lose it all and have to play by that but that will not bring any benefit, that will not bring any hope to those who are looking up to us. They would only have to turn to do mediocre stuff because that is being rewarded.”
He added: “So I will beg off all these awards organisers to try so hard in their own way even if they have to go out of their lines once they believe and know that this is the right thing because the right is devoid of influence…the right thing will vindicate itself?”
“It’s our music but the role that you play could be a per cent that adds up but it actually makes a big difference…you guys hold a very huge spot where when favouritism come inside and bias come inside and influence come inside it will definitely look someway.”

Zylofon Music signed gospel singer Joyce Blessing has revealed that she is too big to waste her precious time to complain about not winning awards.
The "I Swerve" singer went home empty-handed after this year's 3Music Awards because Bethel Revival Choir won her category.
Reacting to this in an interview on Happy 98.9 FM, she revealed that she wasn't surprised at all.
“I’ve received 22 awards so I’m too big for awards. I have grown and I know what is in the industry and so I wasn’t surprised", she disclosed.
When asked by DJ Advicer if her brand is now bigger than awards she said;
"I’m too big to talk about not winning awards or to say I should have won this award. My brand has developed, so it is not now that I’m going to sit and talk".
Joyce Blessing who is currently promoting her new single "Di Asa" has won many awards and have been nominated in both local and international awards schemes since 2014.

Busted! 3Music Awards CEO Reveals How Stonebwoy's "Digital Act Of The Year" Award Was Stolen From Him
CEO of 3Music Awards, Sadiq Abdulai Abu has made a mistake that critics are not taking it lightly.
Critics are doubting the credibility of the scheme after Shatta Wale took home 8 awards.
Reacting to these argument in a Facebook comment, Sadiq who happens to the CEO of the scheme mistakenly said Stonebwoy won "digital act of the year" meanwhile that particular award went to Shatta Wale. Stonebwoy rather won "afropop song" with Bawasaba.
Could it be Stonebwoy won that category but was stolen from him to Shatta Wale or it's just a mere mistake ?

“all VGMA results are certified by KPMG but still what do we see? The people who are supposed to know better keep doing this and it’s makes me wonder what really their genuine interest is. For Phylx Akakpo since his favourite was nominated and his favourite act Stonebwoy didn’t win then its all fake. Meanwhile he’s not provided any evidence to suggest wrong on our part. Meanwhile the same Stonebwoy won Album and Digital act of the year? Are these fake as well? Meanwhile, I doubt if Phylx himself voted atleast once for any of his favourite talents. Meanwhile he is here expecting his favourite talent to win against one that which his fans voted for? Interestingly and on another hand he will come here complaining of “pull him down” in relation to Nam1", he commented.

REVEALED: Shatta Wale Paid 3Music Awards Organizers $250,000 For The 8 Awards
Self acclaimed Ghanaian dancehall king, Charles Nii Armah Mensah a.k.a Shatta Wale has been accused of paying $250,000 to organizers of 3Music Awards as bribe.
According to the information reaching massiveupdates.com, the "Gringo" singer didn't deserve most of the categories he won this year but since the organizers were given such amount of money they gave him those awards.
Shatta Wale won 8 awards at the 2nd edition of 3Music Awards including reggae/dancehall artist, viral song, reggae/dancehall artist and best video.
His rival Stonebwoy won 2 awards and shockingly the most decorated Ghanaian rapper, Sarkodie won nothing.

Sarkodie went home with a "SARDINE CAN' as he won nothing at the 3Music Awards
Most decorated Ghanaian artist, Michael Owusu Addo who is popularly known as Sarkodie didn't win any award at the just held 3Music Awards.
As expected, we all thought Sarkodie would swoop some awards at the 3Music awards held at the Fantasy Dome.
The rapper who was not at the event got a couple of nomination but virtually won nothing.
The CEO of Sarkcess Music got 5 nominations and won nothing.
The award scheme witnessed Shatta Wale swooping 8 awards with his arch-rival Stonebwoy winning just 3 awards.
We guess Sarkodie will win some awards at the upcoming VGMAs because going home with a 'sardine can' at an awards event is such an embarrassment for his brand.
